Clerks Director Kevin Smith Reveals Original Ending to 1994 Film

Clerks is one of the most iconic films if you grew up in the 90s. Clerks feels as if it stands up to the test of time, as every person who has ever worked serving the public can relate to the issues the main characters faced. Even though, now; I’m sure there’s a generation of kids who have no idea what a rental VHS store is!

Clerks spawned a successful sequel and director Kevin Smith is planning a third Clerks. While talking about it, Smith also revealed the original ending to his 1994 classic – which involved main character Dante dying!

“Slow Fast. (TRIGGER WARNING: This is a post about FASTING. Please avoid if you struggle with eating disorders.) I ended my longest fast this morning: 152 hours over the course of 7 days. I feel good and experienced no hunger and no lethargy. Helped that I was buried in writing the new version of #clerks3 for multiple hours a day, which was a welcome distraction from all the entertainment eating I was doing during the holiday, eating (and then overeating) because it’s pleasurable. Before I knew it, 152 hours rolled by because I was lost in Leonardo, NJ, at @quickstopgroceries (in the script, not IRL).”

What do you think about the original ending for Clerks and are you happy with the ending we ended up seeing?
