Famed comic book heroes – and their antagonists – have taken over movie cinemas and are now moving their way onto the retail casino floor and online slot machine space.

Branded Slots featuring Batman, his villains and all his different incarnations, Wonder Woman, Spider-Man and Popeye are playable online for real money or in demo mode and provide exciting ways for fans to connect to the character.

It’s a natural fit for game designers to take existing comic book characters with deep backstories, signature phrases and symbols and craft creative branded online slot games.

You can fit their stories into 3-Reel or 5-Reel slot grids, or a super slice – think Wheel of Fortune style – that have progressive jackpots.

These games have embraced the cutting-edge concepts of bonus spins, sidequests and multipliers just like the movies and comic books have. A bonus spin on Batman unlocks a battle with the Joker, Wonder Woman spins her rope and turns Wild and Popeye and Brutus continue their long-running fight for the heart of Olive Oyl.

Here are some comic book characters with exciting online slot games.

    Batman

Batman, The Batman, The Dark Knight, whatever your favorite variation of Bruce Wayne’s alter ego is (and there are plenty) there is probably a corresponding slot machine.

The Dark Knight slot made by PlayTech has six reels, four rows and 50 ways to win and lists a return to player rate of 95.96 percent. It’s a dark and brooding game, just like the Batman of today.

If you prefer your Batman to be campy, there are multiple variations featuring the old 1960 TV classic with Adam West playing the signature character. In place of the traditional playing card symbols, you get the classic “POW!” “ZAP!” and “BAM!” cards. Fans of the original show will recognize those as the words that spread across the screen whenever Batman was engaged in a fight with an adversary.

    Wonder Woman

The music is what gets you first, the 1970s style thumping bass that serves as the backdrop of Wonder Woman Gold, a game developed by SG Interactive and Bally’s.

There are three progressive jackpots in this game and 40 paylines on a 5×4 grid. The listed return to player rate is 95.84 percent.

Players also have a chance to buy a bonus after accumulating credits.

    Spider-Man

Stan Lee’s Spider-Man has had multiple movie trilogies and different backstories, so why wouldn’t he have his own brand of online slot machines?

Spider-Man Attack of the Goblin doesn’t stray too far from the comic book roots. Each symbol looks hand-drawn on a page. Spidey, a.k.a. Peter Parker is perched nearby and in a nifty twist, he occasionally shoots a web into the play area shifting icons around and giving you a shot at a big win.

This game also has an Ultimate Fight Feature where Spider-Man can square off with one of his many enemies.

    Popeye

Ok, so Popeye is a real classic dating back to the 1930s. if you don’t know, his deal is spinach makes him stronger, his gal is Olive Oyl and his nemesis is Brutus.

All these concepts are blended perfectly into Popeye vs. Brutus, a super slice game where the number of icons is random, and so is the number of slices in the spinning disc. Land on an icon and win a prize. Hit Popeye vs. Brutus and get sent into the free spin zone where you choose whether you want to represent the hero or nemesis and gain their winnings.
