Comic Review: Doom Patrol Weight of the Worlds #1

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”25707″ img_size=”411×623″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]If you know me, you know I am obsessed with DC Universe’s Doom Patrol. The perfect, whacky series that somehow is able to convey real emotions and touch upon serious issues. When I was given the option to review Doom Patrol Weight of the Worlds #1, I had to jump on it. Had to take a look into a new comic book that featured the team I’ve come to love on screen.

Weight of the Worlds #1 did not disappoint. We are still given the same cast of characters. They’re still recognizable. Except, Cliff Steele. In this issue, Cliff is no longer the Robotman. He’s flesh and blood just like before. But, like we saw in the series, we find Cliff questioning himself as a human. Questioning how he fits in and is he actually a good person when he isn’t made of metal. I really enjoyed this small subplot in the first issue. There is some parts, towards the end; that have Cliff making a decision that seems so within his character. Cliff is always trying to make amends and for him, there’s only one way now he feels like himself.

Some of these characters are real. Some are not. The comic explains it. There’s a multiverse and things are just as strange as ever. There’s some moments that are straight out of a Dragonball Z episode.

There’s also development we see. Characters bettering themselves. Learning. Larry gets a dog. Needless to say, I loved that. There was so much I loved about this issue. I love the characters and love the illustration. The Doom Patrol team is weird. They’re funky. They don’t necessarily fit within the confines of what you deem normal. And that’s why we love them.
