[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”19438″ img_size=”411×631″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]What a gorgeous, haunting issue the House of Whispers #8 is. Within The Sandman franchise, we see the world of souls before our very eyes in this issue, which is really the beauty of this series as a whole. Unlike so many comic books that we see these days that deal with superheroes and right and wrong, this is more of a motley of characters and creatures that really dive into the mythos of the underworld.
We see characters like the Corinthian, Uncle Monday, Ananse, and more. It’s a complete underworld that begins the story with Backra’s mundane day since escaping prison. He’s haunted in the house which he paints blue and tends to a soul tree. All the while the supernatural beings are on their way to face Ananse on an interesting trek that leads them to a moment that has lasting consequences.
The 8th issue is absolutely and gorgeously illustrated and the way that the House of Whispers can combine both bright, vibrant colors, but yet still come across as a haunting and creepy tale is truly a talent. Each character has a motive and you aren’t sure who can necessarily be trusted and who will look to unleash hell on Earth. Shakpana has a plan now that he is executing and it’s clear that he is enjoying himself every step of the way.
Issue #8 really deals with the internal suffering many of the characters struggle with, but you will not struggle through this comic book! Make sure you get yourself a copy and let me know what you think![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
