When I was a young man, I saw myself as either an artist for Disney or a Marvel comic book artist. I could see myself right up there with Jack Kirby or my personal favorite John Buscema. Imagine my excitement when looking through my favorite book store and finding “How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way” by Stan Lee and John Buscema. This was my golden ticket to the big time…or so I thought.
Fast forward….a number of years and I never quite made my dreams of Marvel Artistry come true however, if you’ve ever looked at any of the stunning concept art used to help create the Marvel Cinematic Universe films and wondered how they were created, Marvel Studios is offering a chance to find out the answers. So after all this time, fate is offering me another chance.
Marvel has announced How to Paint Characters the Marvel Studios Way, a new hardcover book collecting insights, tips, and tricks from some of leading film industry artists who have worked on Marvel Studios films. These include Ryan Meinerding, Charlie Wen, Andy Park, Jackson Sze, Rodney Fuentebella, Anthony Francisco and more talents from The Marvel Studios Visual Development team.
So for anybody like myself who envisioned themselves a comic book Da Vinci, you can learn from some of the best. How about it GVNation? Feeling your artistic muscles flowing? Get ready soon to flex them.
