Controversial ‘Toy Story 2’ “Casting Couch” Blooper Removed In Response To #MeToo Movement

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”25767″ img_size=”618×383″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Deadline recently reported that Disney has deleted a Toy Story 2 post-credits “blooper” scene from the upcoming home entertainment releases of the 1999 animated film.

This scene has the antagonist of the film, Stinky Pete the Prospector, flirting with two Barbie dolls and suggesting he can get them a part in a movie, which resembles much like a “casting couch”-type move that has been widely condemned in the entertainment industry in recent years.

Understandably, Disney is now seeing these actions as inappropriate considering the #MeToo Movement, Weinstein scandal, and even their own challenges in their studios. Last year, Pixar Animation co-founder and Disney animation chief John Lasseter left Disney after allegations of misconduct.

The scene deletion, which reportedly affects both Blu-ray and downloadable versions, was picked up by online forums last month and first reported by film site Rereleasenews. Disney recently re-released the entire Toy Story series on 4K, Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD to coincide with the June release of Toy Story 4.

At the time of publishment, Disney has made no further comment on the situation.
