Could Carl Lumbly Play Isaiah Bradley in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Series?

Disney+’s upcoming The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series is adding another face to its exciting series. While we will have a new Captain America, after Steve Rogers passed his shield along to Sam Wilson; we will see other Captain America characters. Such as the U.S. Agent. AND potentially, the first black Captain America.

There are new reports that Carl Lumbly has been brought onto the show. It’s being surmised that he may play Isaiah Bradley. He was a contemporary of Cap who was experimented on and went on to become a legend. Now, Lumbly’s casting is speculation, as there has been no confirmation that he is playing Isaiah.

Still, Isaiah Bradley’s story is incredibly interesting. Isaiah was one out of several hundred black soldiers during the Second World War who was experimented on. Injected with a serum that was intended to be a recreation of the super-soldier serum that Rogers was injected with.

Deadline described it:

“The fan-favorite throwback character was introduced in 2003 in the Marvel Comics limited series Truth: Red, White & Black as a super-powered product of clandestine experiments on African-American soldiers. The evocative backstory (depicted with imagery that evoked the infamous, real-world Tuskegee syphilis studies) made Bradley a tragic but noble culture symbol for African-American heroes within the Marvel Universe.”

It’s clear that the government does not like that Steve Rogers took it upon himself to choose who the next Captain America was. Which, is why they came out with U.S. Agent. But, does Sam Wilson’s race also have something to do with the government’s reaction towards him being Cap now? If so, it would be really cool for Sam to encounter Isaiah and hopefully, Disney has the strength to fully roll with this storyline. SlashFilm says

the series will be about Falcon initially refusing to take up the mantle of Captain America, but ultimately changing his mind after discovering the secret history of the super soldier program by encountering Bradley, who was actually the “original” Captain America.

Do you think Lumbly will play Isaiah?
