As Fox/Disney deal has went through all the machinations involved in such a major deal, you think the Disney Fox deal — the one entity who has been sweating through it all is 20th Century Fox. In fact by this time next year, the movie studio may not even exist.
With the Walt Disney Company’s family-friendly brand, it has brought into question the status of Fox’s more mature fare. If those projects are put on hold or cancelled outright, it could lead to major job losses. In addition, the questionable futures of movie projects in development have caused operations at Fox to slow down, and make employees and executives alike start to question their future.
Films deemed to not fit the Disney model might also never be made again which could put future projects like Aliens and Predator in jeopardy. Disney of course has said they would like to continue the Deadpool franchise even with an R rating.
While Fox’s Superhero lineup might be flying high, the future of its other projects and the new report from the Wall Street Journal that indicates that Fox may be facing mass layoffs if their ongoing or potential projects run counter to Disney’s business models. If things are not resolved and compromises not reached, it could lead to the once unthinkable…the dissolution of the 83-year-old 20th Century Fox studio. Disney has not made any comments regarding this so all this might just be speculation but it’s somehthing to think about for sure.
Would you feel the end of 20th Century Fox, would be a tragedy or just the cost of doing big business these days? Lend us at Geek Vibes Nation your thoughts.
