Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a Multiplayer experience post-launch

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”29236″ img_size=”825×464″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]CD Projekt Red confirmed over on Twitter recently that the upcoming CyberPunk 2077 will have a multiplayer experience post-launch, after rumors that an online mode for the game has been in development for some time now.

In the tweet (See below) that “multiplayer’s in the works” for Cyberpunk 2077, and they are looking for some fresh talent to help them make it. They followed the announcement up with a link to the official CD Projekt Red careers page.

The page shows 8 jobs currently listed for multiplayer including a Design Director, 3D character artist and, senior gameplay programmer. CD Projekt Red then went onto state: “The plan, for now, is to deliver Cyberpunk 2077 in April, then follow up with DLCs (free!) and single-player content, and — once we’re done — invite you for some multiplayer action”.

As for what the multiplayer will contain, that is still anyone’s guess. Some fairly standard options could be classic 6V6 or 8V8 Team Deathmatch style modes, or possibly a Battle Royal mode after they have proven to be very successful. An open-world game such as this could benefit from a GTA V or Red Dead Redemption 2 style open-world multiplayer experience, allowing a lobby full of players to inhabit the same world and basically run wild.

Fan response was certainly a mixed bag on Twitter after the announcement, with many looking forward to a multiplayer experience, and others wishing CD Projekt Red had focused more time and effort on singleplayer, despite the developers assuring fans multiplayer would not detract from the regular singleplayer experience.

Others were quick to call out Red Dead Redemption 2’s multiplayer mishaps after the game suffered from various issues regarding its online component. Heres hoping CD Projekt Red does a better job than RockStar.

Are you excited to see multiplayer arrive in Cyberpunk 2077 in whatever form it takes, or will you be sticking to the single-player story? Let us know your thoughts down below or over on twitter.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
