Dan Trachtenberg Attached to Direct a Sequel ‘Waterworld’ Series

Waterworld may have been a flop, but producer John Davis is ready to come back for more. According to a report by Collider, Davis is returning for a Waterworld streaming series. Dan Trachtenberg is set to direct.

Davis expressed:

“We’re going to do the streaming version of that movie, the continuation of that movie.”

The original 1995 movie starred Kevin Costner, Jeanne Triplehorn, and Tina Majorino. The series will apparently follow the characters from that film, just 20 years later.

John Fox, Davis’s producing partner of nearly ten years; also expressed:

“We’re not 100% sure on the approach to the show. But definitely, we’re in the building stages right now.”

Fox added:

“For now, it’s at Universal Television, and we are putting it together. But yes, we think it already has a home.”

What do you think of the original Waterworld and are you looking forward to a sequel series? Let us know and we will let you know as we find out more!
