Danai Gurira Confirmed To Leave ‘The Walking Dead’

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”14934″ img_size=”560×330″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]It has been speculated this week that one of the Walking Dead’s longest tenured members might be leaving the show. Now, thanks to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, we have confirmation that Danai Gurira (Michonne) will indeed be leaving the series. Danai did sign a contract to appear in season ten of The Walking Dead but it will be for only a handful of episodes. A similar situation happened this season when it was announced Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes) would only be in the first five episodes and then he would also be leaving. According to THR –

“Gurira will return in a limited capacity — described as only a handful of episodes — that will be interspersed throughout season 10.”

Rick Grimes story has ended on TWD but Andrew will star in three AMC The Walking Dead movies to finish up his arc for good. THR reports that Danai will be joining Andrew for those movies as we will most likely see Rick, Michonne, and their child’s story arc come to and end. TWD has been renewed for a tenth season despite the series losing more and more viewers each week. With Danai leaving, will there be more to follow? Can The Walking Dead survive with so many fan favorites calling it quits?
