Daniel Craig Does Not Have Time For Derogatory Remarks About ‘No Time to Die’ Writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”31365″ img_size=”644×338″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Daniel Craig isn’t here for your sexist remarks. He’s James Bond, so I would listen to him.

No Time to Die is the 25th Bond movie and has had five different screenwriters (Cary Joji Fukunaga is directing). Along with Fukunaga, those writers have been Neil Purvis, Robert Wade, Scott Z Burns, and Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge. This brilliant writer and actor is sure to bring her own unique style to the script, as fans of Fleabag will see that she is able to balance emotions perfectly with her comedic style. While those who love Waller-Bridge were happy about the news of her involvement, this is the internet. Of course, there’s going to be trolls.

Don’t say she’s a “diversity hire” though, because you’re going to have to contend with Craig himself. In a recent interview, Craig shut down the notion that Waller-Bridge was brought in because she’s a woman:

“Look, we’re having a conversation about Phoebe’s gender here, which is fucking ridiculous. She’s a great writer. Why shouldn’t we get Phoebe onto ‘Bond?’ I know where you’re going, but I don’t actually want to have that conversation. I know what you’re trying to do, but it’s wrong. It’s absolutely wrong. She’s a fucking great writer. One of the best English writers around. I said, ‘Can we get her on the film?’ That’s where I came from.”

Waller-Bridge not only is behind Fleabag, but Killing Eve as well. Craig attributes her writing on these projects as his inspiration to want her involved in No Time to Die:

“I had my eye on her ever since the first Fleabag, and then I saw Killing Eve and what she did with that and just wanted her voice. It is so unique — we are very privileged to have her on board.”

Who else is excited to see what Waller-Bridge brings to the table for No Time to Die?
