‘Daredevil’ Season Three Is A True Standalone

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”7323″ img_size=”1200×600″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]This may come as some disappointing news to fans, as I myself am a little bummed out about it; but it seems that Daredevil Season 3 will not feature any crossover characters from the other shows. In Luke Cage season two we had Finn Jones reprise his role as Danny Rand, as well as Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing. Then, in Iron Fist season two, Simone Missick joined the group as her beloved Misty Knight. Jessica Jones season two was quite a standalone show, as well as The Punisher season one (although we had both Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page and Royce Johnson as Brett Mahoney). It seems that the next installment of Daredevil will follow Jessica Jones and The Punisher’s format of staying a true solo-series.

This is definitely disappointing news for anyone who wished to see Jessica and Matt interact again, Danny work alongside Daredevil, and Frank Castle and Wilson Fisk finally getting the second showdown their deserve. Still, there’s a lot going on in season three, and new showrunner Erik Oleson expressed his desire for the third season to be a standalone one:

“I wanted it to be standalone, I did not do crossovers this season. I wanted to really get back to these core characters and use the real estate to focus on who they are and really fleshed them out before I introduced external and other elements of the MCU, at least on the Netflix/Marvel side – I really wanted to get back to the core characters and tell a character-driven season.”

Oleson did not rule out connections mentioned to the other shows, so us who enjoy Easter Eggs will be keeping our eyes and ears out for that. Daredevil returns to Netflix October 19th![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
