Dave Chappelle, who last starred with Murphy in his 1996 film the Nutty Professor, is being said to be tabbed for a role in the long awaited follow-up. According to That Hashtag Show, the comedian would play a character named Baba in Coming to America 2. Baba is old shaman from Zamunda that advises King Jaffe and later Prince Akeem.
The studio has hired director Craig Brewer to direct the project with Black-ish creator Kenya Barris coming onto the project to help rewrite the film’s script. The original film’s screenwriters Barry Blaustein and David Sheffield wrote the first draft of the script. Production is scheduled to begin sometime later in 2019. If this rumor is true, it will be the second announcement about the film as it was revealed earlier that Murphy, as is his talent, will portray multiple characters just as he did in the first classic film. Are you looking forward to a revisit to Zamunda and perhaps the reunion of Murphy and Chappelle? Share your Coming to America 2 thoughts with us at GVNation. But first…Wipers!! Clap, clap!
