David Mazouz Discusses His Favorite Episode of ‘GOTHAM’

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”2486″ img_size=”640×328″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]What is your favorite episode of Gotham? In four years the Batman inspired television show has produced some very memorable episodes. I cannot even begin to tell you which one is my favorite though most of them involve Cameron Monaghan’s Jerome. In season one, episode sixteen, the world was introduced to Jerome Valeska. At the time Jerome was this concerned young man who was trying to do what he could to assist Jim Gordon locate his missing mother. It was not until the end of the episode that we saw the true nature of Jerome, a more sadistic and sinister Jerome. The ending to that episode was tip of the iceberg when it came to what we could expect from Cameron Monaghan and even co-star David Mazouz would agree.

At Comic Con, David was asked what his favorite episode was and he mentioned that it was indeed an episode he shared with Cameron’s Jerome:

My favorite episode, because it’s great for Bruce and it’s great for the entire show. I think it looks fantastic. It is the episode where Jerome kidnaps Bruce and they go to the circus in Season Three. That was an iconic moment because that was the episode where Bruce says ‘I’m not going to kill.’ Which is kind of Batman’s defining feature, especially when it comes to his distinction from any other superhero. That’s something that hasn’t gone away, that’s something he still carries with him and he still believes more than anything. That’s my favorite moment.

That is not the only episode the two have shared and in fact they shared several scenes together in season 4 that were quite memorable. The episode David speaks of was indeed one of the best moments so far during Gotham’s run. We got to see the what we thought was the beginning of the Batman/Joker relationship, we got to see an adaptation of the Killing Joke only it was Jerome painting a bloody smile on Bruce’s face instead of the frown on Batgirl’s face and as David mentioned it was the moment Bruce adopted his “No Kill” rule. Sadly Jerome is no longer with us but his twin brother Jeremiah who seems to be the one true Joker, unless Gotham fools us again, will have some lasting memories with Bruce in the upcoming season.

Season 5 of Gotham is set to debut in early 2019 and looks to be the final season barring some miracle pick up. David has already mentioned that we will hear the name Batman in the upcoming season as he transitions into the Dark Knight we all know.
