DC Comics Hex Wives #3 Review

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”12509″ img_size=”400×600″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Hex Wives #3 is the latest installment in the series, done by Ben Blacker and Mirka Andolfo. The first thing that you notice right off the bat is the pretty, cartoon style of the comic. It really is done is a perky and “cute” sort of way, but do not let this fool this. This is not some Disney, fairytale story as we enter some really freaky and disturbing content within these colorful pages.

For those who like to read comics on their commute to work or even if you are around family, maybe wait to open up this comic book, as there is nudity. And it’s not pretty. There’s an old, skeleton thin lady who our main character interacts with, who is trying to get through to her to tell her who she really is. Instead of wondering why a naked old lady is in her closet, Izzy is more concerned with the things that this old woman is telling her. To which her “husband” Aaron denies that there is even someone in the closet and claims she’s seeing things. Aaron is a dick, by the way; just for your information. Not only does he hit Izzy over the head to knock her unconscious, but he is clearly only acting as a husband to have control over her. Aaron is patronizing and plain evil.

Poor Izzy doesn’t have a clue though, as when she wakes up she doesn’t remember a thing. The town that Izzy lives in is very Stepford Wives, with all these wives clueless over the evil doings in their town. It’s certainly a combination of “cute” and “morbid” in this issue, especially the last panel, which had me curious as to what would cause such an over-exaggeration on top of then the tragedy that occurred as a result. Make sure to get your hands on Hex Wives #3 for the continuation of this adventure!
