The most startling and intriguing mystery in the DC Universe continues as Naomi searches to uncover the secrets of her own origin. What do her small town’s oversized mechanic and the last time a super-powered person appeared in her hometown have to do with the day she was adopted? Big emotions, new characters and a last page cliffhanger that can’t be missed lead off this issue drawn by breakout sensation Jamal Campbell. Don’t miss your chance to meet the most exciting new character in the DC Universe!

There is something about Naomi that I love even more than Justice League, The Flash, The Batman who Laughs, or even Young Justice. For me, it is the lack of superheroes. I have grown up with characters like Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman from comic books, animated shows, and movies. Even with different styles of storytelling from each medium, there is a lack of wonder because of the amount of Superhero Characters in one comic. It is a breath of fresh air that Naomi isn’t about a superhero, but just an ordinary girl who is looking for answers about her past.

David F. Walker and Brian Michael Bendis are doing great work together writing great character interactions. We as an audience can tell that Dee has some type of connecting with Naomi thanks to the art team that includes the Penciler, Inker, and colorist you can tell from the emotions on Dee’s face that he knows Naomi maybe on a personal level, but the question is how are they related? Is Dee Naomi’s real father or possibly something more ingenious?

Another important interaction within this issue was between Naomi and her adopted parents. I like how David F. Walker and Brian Michael Bendis started off with the parents gossiping about others as they were eating dinner. During that time you can tell that Naomi wanted to talk to her parents, but was hesitant about it. Moments later she asked the question, How does the mechanic know what day I was adopted?  I can feel some tension between the mother and father as if they were hiding something, maybe that just me over analyzing the situation and if that was what David F. Walker, Brian Michael Bendis, and Jamal Campbell were going for then bravo!

The last interaction I would like to talk about is between Naomi and Annabelle. You can tell that these characters have been friends for years and it a combined effort of  David F. Walker, Brian Michael Bendis, Jamal Campbell, and the Letterer*. Much like I felt with the parents and Dee I couldn’t feel any awkwardness between Noami and Annie combined the body language, the way it was written and even the different styles of the speech balloons it is really subtle but very effective.

Almost everything was perfect for me in this issue of Naomi but they were a few places where the lettering was cut off other than that everything from the art to the story it was absolutely perfect.

This is just me being spoiled but David F. Walker and Brian Michael Bendis give us some answers in the next issue or just message me on twitter at AJ_GeekVibes!

Everyone needs Noami in their collection so pick this one up today at your local Comic Book shop, Amazon, or DC Comics![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
