Exclusive: Hear “Desert Chase” From Alex Belcher’s ‘Matchbox the Movie’ Score

Geek Vibes Nation is exclusively premiering “Desert Chase,” a track from Alex Belcher’s score for Matchbox the Movie. Lakeshore Records releases the soundtrack digitally on October 9, 2026, the same day the John Cena action comedy arrives on Apple TV.

Belcher, whose credits include Citadel, supplies the music for a childhood reunion that goes spectacularly wrong. Lakeshore describes his orchestral score as balancing the film’s large-scale action with its emotional moments. “Desert Chase” is the third track on the album, which also includes Marcus King’s cover of “Workin’ For A Livin’.”

A reunion with a few complications

In Matchbox the Movie, Cena plays Sean, an undercover CIA agent who returns to his hometown after years away. His old friends soon find themselves caught up in an international pursuit with considerably more at stake than catching up on lost time.

Sam Hargrave directs the Apple Original Film, produced by Skydance Media and Mattel Films. The cast also includes Jessica Biel, Sam Richardson and Arturo Castro. Inspired by Mattel’s die-cast cars, the film joins the wave of toy adaptations making their way to the screen.

The soundtrack runs to 37 tracks. Titles such as “Ambulance Chasers,” “Marketplace Melee” and “Whirlybird Tussle” offer a few hints about how much trouble this reunion involves. Marcus King’s contribution closes the album.
