In case you didn’t know, the 2019 Pet Sematary film is getting a prequel – which will come from writer Jeff Buhler. The 2019 horror remake wasn’t met with the best of reviews, but as you know, Hollywood likes trying to make something stick. And maybe they will with a prequel film – after all, some horror remakes have been very popular in the past few years. Such as the Halloween remake in 2018.
The Illuminerdi reports that the prequel will explore the early life of Jud Crandall. What keeps him in Ludlow, Maine? His past childhood friends and rivalries will be explored as well. According to The Illuminerdi, one event will tear apart of a friendship consisting of Jud and his friends Manny and Timmy. After this, Jud and his girlfriend Norma plan to leave Ludlow, but as you know in horror films, nothing ever goes the way you’d like them to.
Jud is described as “rugged” and handsome, while Norma is described as the town’s sweetheart and heavily religious. Manny is a Native American young man and Timmy is a 19-year-old whose life has been described as incredibly tragic.
In the original novel, Timmy Baterman was the first person Jud knew of to be brought back by the Pet Sematary. So, this will be an interesting connection.
