A yet-to-be introduced hero is already on the verge of getting her own series on Disney+.
According to Variety, a series based on Echo is currently in development on the streaming service. Tropic Thunder writer Emily Cohen is attached.
Echo, whose real name is Maya Lopez, is a deaf Native American with a hand painted on her face. Her abilities include photographic reflexes which allow her to copy an opponents moves much like Taskmaster can. Echo has strong martial arts skills and even was able to gain Daredevil’s acrobatic abilities and Bullseyes aim after watching tapes of their fights. She has strong ties to Daredevil and Hawkeye.
Before she was Echo, Maya was first known in the comics as Ronin. Yes, she was the original Ronin before Clint Barton took up the moniker. Perhaps the Hawkeye series will explore that connection.
Alaqua Cox will debut as Echo in Hawkeye on Disney+, featuring Jeremy Renner back as Clint Barton and Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop.
