Update: We have received word from another trusted source that tells us this will indeed be an Original film for Disney+ so that answers the question of whether or not it would be a movie or series.
Exclusive:
Since the launch of Disney+ there have been talks of several films getting the reboot treatment including Fox’s Home Alone film. Disney wants to make sure their new streaming service is stock piled with fresh new content. We have learned from a reliable source that Disney is indeed looking into possibly rebooting The Parent Trap and looking to cast people of color for the lead roles. We are not sure if it will be rebooted into a film or a series at this time as we were only told that it is being “talked” about. The Parent Trap first debuted in 1961 before being remade in 1998 which saw Lindsey Lohan star in the dual role of Hallie Parker and Annie James. The film also starred Dennis Quaid and the late Natasha Richardson.
Most fans are bored with remakes and reboots but I think a fresh take on The Parent Trap with a diverse cast could make it something special. I think it could work as a series rather than a movie. What do you think of Disney rebooting The Parent Trap? Who would you like to see cast? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
