Disney To Upgrade MCU With Disney Fox Merger

Marvel Cinematic Universe!

The Success of the Past!

Thank you to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) team, we as fans have gained twenty-two full Marvel films! (three phases) starting with…

Phase 1

(2008) Jon Favreau’s Iron Man / (2008) The Incredible Hulk / (2010) Iron Man 2 / (2011) Thor /

(2011) Captain America: The First Avengers / and (2012) The Avengers

Phase 2

(2013)Iron Man 3 / (2013) Thor: Dark World / (2014) Captain America: Winter Soldier / (2014) Guardians of The Galaxy / (2015) Avengers: Age of Ultron / and (2015) Ant-Man

Phase 3

(2016) Captain America: Civil War / (2016) Doctor Strange / (2017) Guardians of The Galaxy Vol.2 / (2017) Spider-Man: Homecoming / (2017) Thor Ragnork / (2018) Black Panther / (2018) Avengers: Infinity War / (2018) Ant-Man and the Wasp / ( 8 March 2019) Captain Marvel / ( 26 April 2019) Avengers: End Game

All of these films have been both critically accepted by fans and critics alike also, each and every one of them are successful in the Boxoffice. Of course, there have been some mishaps and course correction (like any studio) throughout the years, but the MCU always came back stronger.

The Start Of The New Begining!

Back in 2017, Kevin Feige had an interview with Collider’s own Steve Weintraub talking about many things such as contracts, new ideas and how Phase 4 might not even be categorized as Phase 4. This is what Kevin Feige said in part of the interview,

“We’ve been lucky that [contract expirations] haven’t factored in too much. We’ve had people under contract for certain films, then we’ve had new ideas and new directions like Civil War like we wanted to do, and we’ve been lucky enough to make new contracts. Or Spider-Man: Homecoming, the cast has been awesome in their enthusiasm for the direction and the storylines that we’ve been telling. So it really does, right now, all start with where we wanna take the stories. Certainly as we get to Infinity War there is a sense of a climax if not a conclusion to, by the time we’re at untitled Avengers 4, the 22 movies that will have encompassed the first three phases of the MCU. And what happens after that will be very different. I don’t know if it’s Phase 4, it might be a new thing.”

Since this interview, a lot has happened. Disney and Fox film division are merging together which means all the Marvel characters that were owned by 20th Century Fox are heading back to (Marvel) Disney. This includes Fantastic Four, Deadpool, X-men, Galactus, Doctor Doom etc.

Ever since this announcement, there have been many speculations on how Kevin Feige and his team would intertwine all of their upcoming characters into the current MCU? For me, on the other hand, I want someone entirely new that loves the comics as much as Kevin Feige and can work well with others to make a separate universe, doesn’t have to connect.

On a call with investors, Bob Iger talks about how Disney will keep Deadpool Rated R and many other Marvel films as well. This is what Bob Iger says,

“We will continue in that business,” promised Iger, adding, “There’s certainly popularity” with those types of films.

Iger hinted that these films won’t be released under the traditional Marvel or Disney banner. The company will make it an effort to ensure it is “carefully branding [R-rated films]…so we’re not in any way confusing the consumer,” Iger said.

If what Bob Iger says is true then this gives the possibility that Marvel might have a separate universe.

I did not forget about the upcoming MCU films such as Spider-Man: Far From Home (Post-Production), Black Panther 2 (Announced), Black Widow (Pre-Production), Doctor Strange 2 (Announced), Shang-Chi (Outline Treatment), and The Eternals. With these movies releasing after Avengers: Endgame I would like them to start fresh for a new storyline that leads into a big event.

My Wants and Needs For The Future of Marvel

Fantastic Four movies (Possible Trilogy?) / Would love to see if Hugh Jackman returns as Wolverine / Ryan Renolds stays as Deadpool / Storm and T’Challa meet / Silver Surfer movie / Doctor Doom movie / Galactus as the Main villain for the overall story arc /

Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe! (Separate Universe) / Avengers vs X-men (Separate Universe) / Deadpool and Spiderman (Separate Universe) Old Man Logan (Separate Universe) / Moon Knight (Separate Universe) / Task Master vs Spider-Man (Separate Universe)

Side Note: I would love the separate universe to be completely random. No connective tissue to each other. All small budget, this way it is more likely to gain a lot of money for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It can also be a hub for new and upcoming Actors/ Actresses, Directors, Screenwriters, Cinematographers etc.

Ending Thoughts

There are so many possibilities for the MCU. Kevin Feige and his team are trying to figure the best way to introduce new characters/teams and fans theorizing how everything will fit in the MCU.

What characters/team should have a movie? Do you like that Disney is merging with 20th Century Fox? Do you like my idea of the Separate Universe Comment down below or at Geek Vibes Nation and Aj_GeekVibes your thoughts?
