Update:
It seems as though Chiwetel Ejiofor’s Baron Mordo is indeed confirmed to return for Doctor Strange 2 according to a new report from The Illuminerdi. (The original article is below)
With everything going on with Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness, you might have forgotten about Chiwetel Ejiofor’s Baron Mordo. Initially Doctor Strange’s ally in the first movie, it was very obvious he was no longer Stephen’s friend at the end of the film. People had wondered what was to come of Mordo in the sequel, since there already seems like there’s a lot planned for the movie. According to a new synopsis, Mordo is probably going to be a big part of the sequel:
“After the events of Avengers: Endgame, Dr. Stephen Strange continues his research on the Time Stone. But an old friend-turned-enemy puts an end to his plans and causes Strange to unleash unspeakable evil.”
Scott Derrickson was the original director of Doctor Strange 2, but he recently dropped out of the project, citing creative differences with Marvel. Currently, the film has not been delayed, but Marvel is looking for a new director. Derrickson will stay on as an EP and Jade Bartlett is writing the script. While fans are worried that Derrickson dropping out means they won’t get the horror aspect they want in Doctor Strange 2, keep in mind that Barlett wrote a draft for the horror film The Turning; an upcoming Universal Pictures movie.
