[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”9751″ img_size=”640×392″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Doctor Who fans will be delighted at the idea of Matt Smith being brought on for Star Wars: Episode IX as a young Sheev Palpatine. Now, this is just a rumor from James Olsen from The Weekly Planet Podcast, but according to a source, Smith is bringing the iconic villain to the big screen once again for the next installment of the series.

Smith has been signed on for the film in August for an undisclosed character, so it is anyone’s guess as to what his role could be. Considering Smith’s popularity and acting skills, Palpatine would be a good role for him to slip into.

Originally portrayed by Marjorie Eaton as a hologram in the Empire Strikes Back, he was then played by Ian McDiarmid. What do you make of these rumors? Would you like to see Matt Smith play Palpatine or did you have another role in mind for him?

Star Wars: Episode IX will premiere in theaters on December 20, 2019
