Doom Patrol’s Joivan Wade Teases a “Practical” Cyborg Costume

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]One of my biggest pet peeves with some superhero movies today is the over use of CGI, particularly when this overuse makes the movie look cheesy and fake. Thankfully, DC Universe’s upcoming Doom Patrol will be using a lot more “practical” costuming, as we’ve seen previously with Robotman’s design. Jovian Wade, who is playing the series’ version of Cyborg; went on Instagram stories to tease his costume, praising it as “amazing”, especially for a television budget.

There’s challenges when it comes to Cyborg’s costume, as Ray Fisher (who plays him on the big screen), knows too well:

“It would be a very, very costly movie to make because it is so CGI heavy with Cyborg, because I’m the only member of the League that’s not in a practical costume. You’re going to be looking at $200 million just to make it. So it’s one of those things you have to take into consideration. It’s a numbers game for some people at the end of the day.”

Wade is joined by Timothy Dalton as The Chief, April Bowlby as Elasti-Girl, Diane Guerrero as Crazy Jane, Dwain Murphy as Negative Man, Matt Bomer as the voice of Negative Man, Jake Michaels as Robotman, Brendan Frasier as the voice of Robotman, and Alan Tudyk as Mr. Nobody.

Doom Patrol just started filming, but you can catch the team on this week’s episode of Titans. Doom Patrol will be released on DC Universe in 2019.
