Don’t jump to conclusions here. This is actually not what you think – Matt Bomer was originally screen tested for the canceled Superman: Flyby film by Brett Ratner and J.J. Abrams. And if you think about it, Henry Cavill and Bomer share some striking resemblance to each over. AND Bomer voice Superman in the animated movie Superman: Unbound. So, Bomer has some history with the Man of Steel. Which, led to his statement, when speaking of his character Negative Man in DC Universe’s Doom Patrol:
“I love Larry, I love who he is, I love who he’s going to become and is in the process of becoming. And I think in so many ways, people would always say ‘oh, what about Superman?’ They bring it up constantly to me, still. And I think this character, to me, is just as if not more interesting than Kal-El.”
So, before anyone jumps at the headline, just know it was simply Bomer stating how he’s enjoying playing a complicated character like Negative Man and as it turns out – while it didn’t work out for Bomer playing a live-action Superman, he’s now settled into a role that he’s really thriving in.
