Dr. Disrespect Talks About Twitch Ban, Possibly Taking Legal Action, and What to Do Next

It may seem a little repetitive to say that Dr. Disrespect has stated he’s not returning to Twitch when he’s been banned from the platform. For a reason unbeknownst to us just yet. Apparently, Guy Beahm aka Dr. Disrespect doesn’t know either. Regardless of the reason and the ban, the popular streamer has clarified that he won’t return to the gaming platform. In fact, he’s not looking for an exclusive streaming partnership right now. It does make sense considering everything that has been happening. Also, according to IGN, he’s considering legal action against Twitch.

That is a lot for the introductory paragraph here. Let’s hear it in Dr. Disrespect’s own words [ when he commented on how odd it is to not know why he’s been permanently banned]:

“Yeah, that’s the kind of the mind-blowing thing about all of this. Obviously, for legal counsel, I have to be careful here. But I can say however, that I will not be returning to Twitch, so, I mean, that’s it.”

He continued:

“We are considering taking legal action.”

Beahm was also asked if the ban had anything to do with his broadcast discussions on COVID-19 and conspiracy theories in regards to the disease. He responded that he didn’t believe so. He was also asked if his ban had anything to do with reasons why other Twitch streamers were banned. Such as accusations of abuse and sexual harassment. Beahm responded:

“Listen, I’m not interested in engaging crazy speculation. I’ve seen all the theories, I’ve seen all the possible conspiracies, and it’s just like, I’m just not interested in engaging that type of stuff. I have a great community of loyal fans and I’m totally focused on getting back and delivering great, entertaining content and that’s where the focus is.”

Beahm went on to discuss how the clip of him “breaking character” is unrelated to the ban:

“I was in a moment where I was just sort of taking in what’s going on in the world, you know? If people had context of that clip going into it, and then coming out of it, like, all I was talking about was just the state of the world that we’re in dealing with, dealing with the protests, and the coronavirus, and everything that was happening. It’s just like, man… And at that particular moment, I think I was just kind of going through a, you know, like, when can we break this funk of 2020? It was just me being real on stream. And that’s pretty much the context of that.”

What is next for Beahm? According to PCGamer, there are talks of a “Doc comeback”. Or a “Doc 3.0 experience”. This could mean streaming exclusively on his own Champions’ Club website. Or perhaps YouTube or Facebook. Remember, though; he still iterates that he is not interested in being exclusive anything. According to IGN, reporting on an email follow-up by PCGamer, Beahm could take his character “outside of streaming”.

“I think you’re gonna see his universe open up a lot bigger. And that’s probably the best way I could describe it.”

Twitch has still not put out an official statement as to why Dr. Disrespect was banned.
