Great news, muggles. What do you get when you combine a Niffler with a knack for locating treasures, a swoon-worthy Albus Dumbledore (I’m looking at you Jude Law), and a whole slew of magical spells? The latest update on when filming will start for the third installment of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, of course.

The only peep we’ve heard regarding the Harry Potter prequel series was back in January when fans were struck by the disappointing news that filming on Fantastic Beasts 3 would be pushed back until Fall of 2019. Well, looks like new intel has emerged and the production timeline has changed once again.

According to Comicbook.com, the No-Maj star of the film, Dan Fogler, who plays Jacob Kowalski, recently revealed an important update at Leaky Con 2019 regarding when Fantastic Beasts 3 will finally begin filming.

Fogler shared, “We haven’t started filming yet. We start in February. Last we heard, J.K. [Rowling]…she’s been writing furiously, everyone was really happy with what she submitted, and we’re all just waiting for the new script. And that’s where we’re at.”

Although Fogler has yet to be enlightened on what’s in store for his crowd-pleasing character, he took a moment to divulge what he hopes to see from the third installment.

“I hope that he gets Queenie back. … I haven’t seen a script yet, and I’ve lost a significant amount of weight, and I think it will be funny if — you know how she put a spell on me to follow her around like a puppy? What if she also put a spell on me to get fit?” Fogler said with a laugh. “So there’s that. But also, on a philosophical level, it’ll be interesting… We’re in the middle of the Depression, he’s just on a bender of loss. He lost her … I’m just saying this is the thing that I have in my head, that he’s lost his appetite.”

Let’s keep our fingers crossed that Rowling keeps trucking along on the Fantastic Beasts 3 script. Franchise fans, myself included, are going to be aiming some unforgivable curses at Warner Bros. if they push production back any further.

Scheming, magic and the Fantastic Beasts gang are set to hit theaters on November 12, 2021.
