Wade, who recently had a role in The First Purge, has agreed to play the role of Cyborg for the small screen in DC Universe’s Doom Patrol. As most fans know the character was previously played on the big screen in Justice League by the aforementioned Ray Price.
As most DC fans know, Cyborg whose real name is Vic Stone, is a half-human, half-machine superhero with a fondness for computers and he has been connected with various super-teams across the DC universe including the Teen Titans.
According to the official character description: “Wade’s Cyborg will be a series regular role and struggling “to maintain the connections that make him human. Desperate to gain acceptance from the outside world, Vic harnesses the curse of his cybernetic body and uses his powers as the ultimate hero for the digital age.”
Doom Patrol will also include Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Woman (being played by The Big Bang Theory‘s April Bowlby), Crazy Jane (played by Orange Is the New Black‘s Diane Guerrero), and the leader of the Doom Patrol Dr. Niles Caulder. It will be part of Cyborg’s job to recruit “DC’s strangest group of outcasts” for missions that “will take them to the weirdest and most unexpected corners of the DC universe.”
Jeremy Carver is the show runner for Doom Patrol, while Greg Berlanti will serve as an executive producer along with Geoff Johns and Sarah Schechter.
Doom Patrol will be part of the DC Universe streaming service along with the live-action Titans series and the animated Young Justice: Outsiders.
