Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke Says Backlash for Season Eight is Flattering

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”29999″ img_size=”800×450″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]While Game of Thrones was one of those fan-favorite shows that everyone enjoyed, it came under scrutiny in its final season. So much to the point that if you were a fan and tried to convince someone to watch Game of Thrones for the first time, you had to put the disclaimer of “just ignore season eight”. Especially when it came to Daenerys’s fate. This character, played by Emilia Clarke for eight seasons’ was always an inspiration and role model to young women. Which, was why it was so infuriating to see the direction her character went in.

When asked about the backlash season eight received, Clarke expressed at the Emmy’s:

“You know what? It was profoundly flattering is what it was because when someone cares that much that they’re ready to make such a noise about how they believe the characters should’ve been finished and how the story should’ve gone. That’s just enormously flattering. That just shows how much everybody loved it.”

She added,

“We’ve had enough space now since filming, since it coming out, since the premiere, and all of that stuff. It’s been all of these different stages. Now, here we are and it feels like everyone’s had some time to cool down a little bit.”

Let’s admit to ourselves that season eight won’t ever change. There won’t be a new season filmed. Only prequels. But, we had seven great seasons and we cannot deny the effort that the entire cast put into season eight. If you are one of those who did not like season eight, just know that George RR Martin still has his books and has stated his books will go in a different direction than the series. And we cannot deny that our love for Daenerys would not have been possible without Clarke’s amazing talent.

What did you think of season eight of Game of Thrones?
