Prequel for ‘Game of Thrones’ House Targaryen a Possibility

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”29533″ img_size=”512×364″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]With all the debate and disappointment in the ending of HBO’s Game of Thrones, the light at the end of the tunnel was the talk of various prequels. While a number of possibilities were discussed, so far only one has made it to pilot. That hasn’t stopped the rumor mill from churning. One of the biggest sources has been George RR Martin himself. On his blog in May, he talked about the future prequels:

Two other shows remain in the script stage, but are edging closer. What are they about? I cannot say. But maybe some of you should pick up a copy of Fire & Blood and come up with your own theories.

While this may just be some clever marketing ploy by Martin, our friends at Deadline are reporting that a new prequel for Game of Thrones is in development that will focus on the early history of House Targaryen. While this has not been confirmed and if so, would be a long way from actual fruition, it would coincide with Martin’s novel Fire & Blood. This book tells some of the back story of House Targaryen. Per the Amazon book description:

Fire & Blood begins their tale with the legendary Aegon the Conqueror, creator of the Iron Throne, and goes on to recount the generations of Targaryen who fought to hold that iconic seat, all the way up to the civil war that nearly tore their dynasty apart.
