Game of Thrones Unaired Pilot Had a Much Tamer First Drogo and Daenerys Interaction

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”15448″ img_size=”768×384″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]The first episode of Game of Thrones was not the original pilot episode, which was “troubled” and largely reshot. With the final season approaching, new details on what could have been are emerging. According to the Huffington Post, Catelyn Stark, Joffrey Barratheon, and Cersei Lannister had certain aspects of their characters changed, which ultimately led the story into the direction it went into.

You can read the entire article here, but one of the things that stood out to me the most is that Daenerys and Drogo were meant to have a much more consensual sex scene than they did in the show. One of the most aspects of the pilot episode that did air was the horrific rape scene at the very end, which solidifies Drogo as a tyrant and begins Daenerys’ journey from the victim of a forced marriage, to the Queen that she is now. Why HBO needed to showcase such a traumatizing scene (when in the books it isn’t even that bad), is beyond me, but we are glad that Daenerys could be the possible one to sit atop the Iron Throne in season eight.

Game of Thrones will premiere its final season on April 14th.
