Within the anime/manga community one of the biggest topics of discussion has been Gear 5th Luffy. Not because of how hype the transformations will be thanks to manga fans all over the world, but also the hype on why Luffy’s devil fruit is so special compared to others.
Last we got a gorgeous trailer focusing on Gear 5th with an announcement date of August 6, 2023. One Piece Episode 1071 “Luffy’s Peak – Attained! Gear Fifth,” will be directed by Tatsuya Nagamine! Yes, the same Director that Dragon Ball Super: Broly and One Piece Film Z.
We also got animators that will be working with Tatsuya Nagamine on Luffy’s Peak – Attained! Gear Fifth. Weilin Zhang who worked on the masterful Naruto and Sasuke vs Momoshiki and the legendary hand to hand fight sequence of The Outcast Season 3. Also Shinya Ohira who has done Key animation for Akira and Howl’s Moving Castile; along with doing the Storyboard for the anime Ping Pong but not only he was the Unit Director, Animation Director, Key Animation for Ping Pong as well.

It is safe to say that One Piece Episode 1071 “Luffy’s Peak – Attained! Gear Fifth,” will be on of if not the best animated episode of the year and I’m not just saying that because I’m a pure one piece fan this is based on the fact that this will have literal legends help to create Gear Fifth Luffy!
