Geek Vibes Interview With Sascha Harman Talking ‘LOST ANGEL’

UK-based actress Sascha Harman gives a remkarable feature debut performance in the riveting new thriller Lost Angel, on digital platforms March 15. The film, housed by Left Films, tells of a sibling who uncovers some shocking secrets about her sisters death.

GVN: You’re in the UK, I believe?  And Lost Angel was your first feature – that’s remarkable!  How did Simon Drake discover you?

Sascha: Yes, I’m from the UK, living in East Sussex. I met Simon through a mutual friend, she got in touch with me one day saying Simon was casting a feature film and that I should audition… so I did.

And did you train as an actor?

Yes, I trained at ACT in Brighton for three years and another year at The Impulse Company in London specializing in the Meisner technique.

How much pressure did you feel knowing the movie was resting largely on your performance?

I would be lying if I said I didn’t feel that pressure, Lost Angel was my first screen acting job. Prior to this I had only done a handful of short films. I definitely felt there was a lot riding on my role, but I felt supported by the cast and crew, and at the end of the day it’s a team effort.

You were brilliant in it. Did you have a backstory down for your character, even if it wasn’t necessarily on the page?

Thank you so much. After reading the script for the first time I connected with Lisa. Simon and I discussed the character’s backstory quite a bit before shooting, but she also evolved a lot as the movie progressed.

What kind of research, if any, did you do for the movie?

I’ll be honest I didn’t do much research. I just let the story guide me.

How was it working with Simon? How encouraging was he?

It was a great experience working with Simon. He was passionate about the movie and that kept me focused and enthusiastic.

Most actors have it tough, especially in recent times. Has there been a point at all when you’ve become disillusioned with the industry and lost your passion? What keeps you driven?

It’s a very tough industry, I question it all the time. When I feel a little lost I remind myself that I started with a love for film and theatre, so watching a movie or a play always helps feed my creativity and keeps me inspired and hopeful.

Think you’ll try Hollywood at some stage, particularly since you’ve made an amazing debut here!?

Never say never!

Have you anything else lined up yet?

I recently worked on a pilot series called Foiled. Written by and starring a good friend of mine. It follows a mother who starts drug dealing to fund her son’s piano lessons. It’s funny, quirky and I really enjoyed it. So hopefully it will be picked up.

Thanks to Sascha for taking the time to speak with us. We hope everyone will check out ‘Lost Angel’ when it releases on March 15.
