When you spend your hard earned money to see a movie like, ‘Godzilla: King of The Monsters,’ monsters are what you expect to see. Unfortunately, that’s not always the case. Most films that feature a creature that has more teeth than the theater has seats, the creature gets limited screen time. Well, it’s your lucky day. In this sequel to the 2014 Godzilla, director Michael Doughtery makes sure our Titan thirst is thoroughly quenched while humans take a backseat. Not only do we get the 355ft lizard king, but we also get: Mothra, King Ghidorah, Rodan, and others. The score and sound quality of the Titans made for a glorious showing of destruction that will rival its competition.
Acting
The acting that stood out was the back and forth mother-daughter dynamic of Madison (Millie Bobby Brown) and Dr. Emma Russell (Vera Farmiga). There was no singular character that solely carried the storyline, it was a collective effort from everyone. The character Mark Russell (Kyle Chandler) fell flat, the emotion just wasn’t believable but there is so much chaos going on that it can go unnoticed. You also get performances from: Zhang Ziyi, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Ken Watanabe, Thomas Middleditch, Bradley Whitford, and Aisha Hinds.
Titans
They are huge, earth-shaking, and aggressive. However, they can be controlled. There can only be one alpha but when two of them want the top spot, nothing will stop them except each other. They are a colossal sight to see.
Plot
The plot isn’t complex nor is it completely simple, there is some nuance to it. It’s a plot that’s been done before but never with building size ancient Titans. Thanos might enjoy it. Let’s be honest, we just want giant monster fights and that’s what we get. Furthermore, the film starts fast and continues that way until the finish, only taking breaks to insert some cringeworthy laugh moments.

Overall it’s a fun film that diehard fans and Godzilla newbies will enjoy. ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’ releases in theaters everywhere May 31st, 2019. There can only be one King.
Editors Note: I have seen many critics complain that the human element falls flat but for me that just was not the case. They server a purpose and they honestly are the main antagonist of the film. The visuals are spectacular and this is a film you are going to want to see in IMAX, ScreenX and or 4DX. So many nods to the ultimate versus movie coming out next year. Go see Godzilla and enjoy the monster mayhem.
Synopsis:
Members of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah.
