GVN Home Entertainment Release Round-Up April 18-24: Jackass, Peter Dinklage, Sidney Poitier On 4K & More

We at GVN aim to keep you informed of the newest and best in home entertainment week in and week out. For the week of April 18th, we have some incredible releases making their way to our shelves. Read on to get the full rundown of what you should have on your wishlist, plus take a chance to check out what Michael and I are spotlighting on The Video Attic this week.

This week welcomes a slew of recent theatrical titles that are not to be missed. Leading the way is Cyrano starring a post-Game Of Thrones Peter Dinklage in what should have been an Oscar-winning performance. With music from The National anchoring this adaptation, you are in for an unforgettable tale of love and loss. If you are not looking to utilize so many brain cells, Johnny Knoxville and the rest of the crew have you taken care of with the release of Jackass ForeverGet ready to wince at every genital hit with this new Blu-Ray that is loaded with nearly 40 minutes of outrageous and hilarious stunt footage not seen in theaters.

The critically-acclaimed A24 drama The Humans starring Richard Jenkins, Steven Yeun, Beanie Feldstein and more went under the radar when it was released last year, but this haunting family drama is worth your time. Can the same be said for the fantasy tale The King’s Daughter starring Pierce Brosnan and Kaya Scodelario? Elsewhere in the land of 4K UHD, things are really heating up as Sony serves up the animated cult classic Heavy Metal in a lavish new SteelBook package that is not to be missed. Not only do you get the original film in Dolby Vision with Dolby Atmos audio, but the release also includes the Blu-Ray debut of Heavy Metal 2000.

If you are looking for something a bit more respectable, Kino Classics has you covered with the 4K UHD debut of the Oscar-winning Sidney Poitier classic In The Heat Of The Night. This particular releases also includes the film’s two sequels on Blu-Ray in the same package.

Next up is the Scream Factory release of Hammer Film’s adventure horror feature Night Creatures from a new 2K scan in a new Collector’s Edition filled with special features including a new commentary, interviews and more. The Criterion Collection has a pair of classic titles that are sure to impress old-school film fans including The Girl Can’t Help It starring Jayne Mansfield and Vittorio De Sica’s unforgettable drama Miracle In Milan. As always, the company has went above and beyond for these to release in terms of A/V quality and special features.
