We at GVN aim to keep you informed of the newest and best in home entertainment week in and week out. For the week of August 1st, we have some incredible releases making their way to our shelves. Read on to get the full rundown of what you should have on your wishlist, plus take a chance to check out what Michael and I are spotlighting on The Video Attic this week.
Two of the biggest releases of the week come from the land of 4K UHD. First off, we have the master Dario Argento presenting his giallo classic Tenebrae newly restored on 4K UHD for its 40th anniversary courtesy of Synapse Films. The release features the film in Dolby Vision plus hours of special features including an alternate cut of the film of the film titled Unsane.
Over at Arrow Video we have the 4K UHD debut of Joel Schumacher’s early ’90s classic Flatliners featuring a buzzy ensemble including Kiefer Sutherland, Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon, William Baldwin, and Oliver Platt. The release is derived from a brand-new 4K restoration from the original negative, approved by the director of photography Jan de Bont plus enough new bonus content to fill a body bag.
In the land of animation, we have two eagerly anticipated titles making their way to our shelves. First off, we have fun and vibrant 2005 series Krypto The Superdog: The Complete Series debuting on DVD with all 39 episodes thanks to Warner Bros. We then take a trip a little further back with the landmark 1990 anime series Nadia: The Secret Of Blue Water – The Complete Series which gets a newly remastered Blu-Ray release which brings the series to life in a whole new way thanks to Shout! Factory and GKIDS.
This is only a taste of the incredibly packed lineup you have to look forward to you this week. Be sure to check out the full list below after checking out The Video Attic where we discuss the new adventure-comedy The Lost City starring Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum on 4K UHD, the Jim Carrey heartbreaker Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind on 4K UHD, the hit series Yellowjackets and That Dirty Black Bag newly released on Blu-Ray, new releases from Mill Creek, ClassicFlix, Kino Classics and more.
