The long-awaited mystery of who got sucked off in CBS Ghosts was finally answered in the season three premiere. Season two’s finale ended with Sam and Jay witnessing a beam of white light coming from their home – signaling that someone in the ghost crew had moved on to the great beyond. Both the main characters and viewers alike had to wait to see who out of their favorite characters would no longer be around.
Slight, Slight spoilers
It was hard to conceptualize losing any of them. Each character offered something different, and it felt like the show would lose out greatly if they chose any of them. We hoped that it would have been one of the basement ghosts or maybe the show would just give us a little scare and no one would be sucked off. However, CBS’s Ghosts stuck to its guns and made one of the main characters move onto Heaven. It was sad, but also refreshing to see a show actually have consequences and not just give the viewers a cop-out.

A Bittersweet Goodbye
The episode had its usual Ghosts charm and it’s good to see none of these characters have lost the allure that made us like them in the first place. Thankfully, the episode didn’t make you wait to find out who moved on. It laid it out right away, but there was a feeling the whole episode that maybe this person would return. Spoilers, I won’t tell you who it was, but I will say that there is no trick – they moved on.
The episode did well in making it a sad moment, while also celebrating who this person was, and why they deserve to be no longer tethered to this Earthly dimension. It was bittersweet and it’ll be odd without them; certainly, I feel bad for the person closest to them. However, the episode offered more character development with the basement people. And maybe we’ll get a new ghost; certainly not as a replacement, but as a welcomed addition.
Unfortunately, CBS’s Ghosts will have a short season three. It seems due to the writer’s strike, we’re only going to have ten episodes. Nevertheless, it seems that so far it’ll still be enjoyable and I for one am excited for this show that has a lot of laughs and a lot of heart. Will not having this character around take a little getting used to? Sure, but it’s so nice to see everyone else back. I do wish we could have actually seen the person one last time, but I understand why they didn’t – so, we’d have some mystery.

Ready for More
Geek Vibes Nation will be back for a season three review at the end of the season, but for now, we give this premiere a 9/10. It was a nice introduction back into this world and while it was a little more melancholy at times than funny, it still retained the charm that made me fall in love with it in the first place.
Ghosts is currently available to stream on Paramount+. New episodes air every Thursday on the CBS Television Network with streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs)
