When I first discovered CBS’ Ghosts, I gave it a 10/10. Everything about this sitcom was enjoyable and I’m happy to say that season two does not disappoint those who were absolutely blown away with season one. The second season continues delivering laughs, heartfelt moments, and surprises that are genuinely earned. Season two just ended and thankfully, Ghosts has been renewed for a third season. Thank God, honestly; because this show is like a sweet treat that I can’t get enough of.
A Non-Spoiler Review
Season two had twenty-two episodes and stretched out from September of 2022, to May of 2023. So, it’s hard to believe that this has only been the second season, as so much has happened. In season one, Rose McIver plays Sam – a girl who discovers she inherited a mansion from a relative she didn’t know, has a near-death experience, and as a result, can see the ghosts who occupy the house. It’s an odd concept, but it just works. And in season two, we have more shenanigans from the ghosts, some really great moments from Sam’s husband Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar), and some satisfying conclusions for plotlines established early on.

While Ghosts is a weekly show and people may have seen it, I also don’t want to spoil anything. So, I’ll simply say that there are some great episodes focusing on couples who you would never expect to work. The Christmas/Holiday episode was truly a standout for me this season. Not only because of the contents of the episode, but for delivering a genuinely awesome and unexpected twist at the end.
A Great Show That Tells a Great Story
Ghosts succeeds in the fact that it has a lot of standalone episodes, but you never feel as if the characters are lacking in substance. Each character has their moments to shine and experience growth throughout the episodes. While you could just pick a random episode to watch and be okay, you also are well-fed if you’re watching each episode on a weekly basis. Every episode is a natural progression for the story and the show makes sure to touch upon things that you may have thought the writers had forgotten about. Remember Crash? What about Stephanie from the attic? Or Todd, Alberta’s obsessor? Get ready to see all of them again; this show certainly doesn’t forget anyone and it’s a nice thing for viewers to know that they’re well-thought-of in the writing process.

What Happened to Alberta?
Of course, without getting into too many spoilers; I have to talk about my favorite aspect of this season. While we all know how each character died, we were always left with the mystery surrounding Alberta’s death. It was suggested, at the beginning of the show; that Alberta had a heart attack and died. But, Alberta knew she was murdered and we viewers knew we deserved answers. I liked that this season sprinkled in a lot of clues, but never rushed the story of the truth surrounding her death. It made for a really exciting storyline and led to some really emotional scenes that played out well.

Season two ended with a shocker that will not be answered until season three, much to my chagrin. However, I do appreciate the show leaving us off on such a questionable note. What happened? Who…well, that’ll give the ending away. Just know that everything I said in my first review remains true, yet the show amplified everything great about season one. I absolutely adore this show and loved season two. I cannot wait to see Sam and Jay and the adventures of the Ghosts in the next season and in the meantime, I’ll be binging every episode starting from episode one.
