To my left are three people donning masks and red jumpsuits prepping for the next Squid Game competition. To my right, a group of Star Wars enthusiasts with multi-hued lightsabers. The amazing spectacle could only mean one thing: New York Comic Con has finally arrived. After last year’s entirely virtual event, the energy in the air at the Javitz Center was palpable. And despite the added safety measures, getting inside was quick and painless.

Other than my deer-in-headlights fangirl moment meeting David Harbour (still cringing inside), here are my top 4 highlights from the event.

Cosplay and Friends

In addition to the new trailers released at NYCC, we wanted to share some of the photos we snapped along the way. While this year’s convention was less congested than previous years, one thing certainly remained the same…the EPIC cosplay outfits. I’m always fascinated by the effort and commitment displayed by NYCC attendees – from Squid Game contestants to the Mandalorian with Baby Yoda – fans showed up in full force this year. Not only did we snap some great photos, but we also got to connect with some familiar faces!

If you follow GVN, you’ll recognize our friends from other outlets, such as Jamie from Swiper_Art, Dan and Jen from Game Vault Pod/Main Damie, and Pete from Pete’s Basement. Of course, GVN was represented by Kelly, Tia, and Brittany this year – all three of whom had the opportunity to stand alongside David Harbour (albeit the awkward glass pane resting between us) for a photo op.
