    Ripple Effect

In late 2022, writer Jordan Hart and artist Bruno Chiroleu collaborated to present a unique and impactful story to their audience. Their creation, “Ripple Effects,” tells the story of a superhero who, despite having superpowers, struggles with his health. Specifically, he has type 1 diabetes and a malfunctioning pancreas that requires constant attention and daily treatment. This inspiring tale of managing an unseen illness is based on Jordan Hart’s personal experience with thrombophilia, a lifelong blood-clotting disorder.

    Recognition

“Ripple Effects” garnered the Dwayne McDuffie Award for Diversity in Comics in 2023. In addition, it received nominations for both an Eisner Award and a Harvey Award. The American Library Association’s Graphic Novels and Comics Round Table featured the series in their 2022 Best Graphic Novels for Adults Reading List. Additionally, it was honored as the winner of the 25th annual Foreword INDIES Book of the Year Award in the Graphic Novels & Comics category.
