History of Ahoy Comics, “The Wrong Earth”
In 2018, Ahoy Comics was established by publisher Hart Seely, editors Tom Peyer and Stuart Moore, and chief creative officer Frank Cammuso. One of their debut titles was the humorously clever The Wrong Earth, created by Tom Peyer and Jamal Igle. This imaginative satire contrasts two versions of its superhero. On one side, the 66-Batman-inspired Dragonfly Man alongside his partner, Stinger. On the other, the hard-ass DragonFly, who takes more after the darker interpretation of Batman.
“The Wrong Earth” Saga
This limited series was soon beloved by fans and critics, inspiring a prequel and sequel. Dragonfly, Dragonflyman, and The Wrong Earth: Night & Day. These were followed by a series of one-offs: The Wrong Earth: Trapped on Teen Planet, The Wrong Earth: Fame & Fortune, The Wrong Earth: Purple, The Wrong Earth: Confidence Men, and The Wrong Earth: Meat. Which then led to a spin-off series, They Could Be Heroes.
“The Wrong Earth: Dead Ringers”
However, Peyers and Igle were not done with their main Wrong Earth saga. In March 2024, Ahoy Comics launched The Wrong Earth: Dead Ringers. A five-issue series featuring the return of Dragonflyman and Stinger to the campy Earth-Alpha. POWW! BONNK!! WHAM!!! However, their hardline versions from Earth-Omega, Dragonfly, and Stinger II are also trapped in this world. Will their no-holds-barred methods work in the campy, family-friendly environment of Earth-Alpha? Moreover, what could go wrong when the two heroes’ express interest in sharing Dragonflyman’s civilian identity, billionaire Richard Fame.
