The Glass Ceiling – “an unofficially acknowledged barrier to advancement in a profession, especially affecting women and members of minorities.”
It has been a point of discussion and debate ever since Marilyn Loden first coined the phrase while speaking as a panelist at the 1978 Women’s Exposition in New York. And while it is generally thought of as a barrier in the business world, it has expanded into all manner of occupations. Apparently, even in the Exorcist profession. At least that seems to be the matter of contention between Syd Miller and Ellen Blair. A pair of Exorcist combat specialists who had a falling out when Syd received a promotion that Ellen felt that SHE deserved. Which is a problem since they are now required to work together in Mad Cave Studios Exorcists Never Die by Eisner Award winning writer Steve Orlando and artist Sebastián Píriz.
Their mission, to put a stop to a soul auction that has garnered the attention of the Seven Deadly Sins. Somehow, they must put their differences behind them and work as a team if they have any hope to succeed. Perhaps even remember that they once had a relationship. Before their jobs and the “Stained Glass Ceiling” got in the way.

Synopsis
Syd Miller and Ellen Blair are the world’s two premier combat exorcists. The only problem? After a nuclear breakup years ago, they can’t stand each other. But when the biggest soul auction in history kicks off beneath Los Angeles, Syd and Ellen have no choice but to come together to raid the Hellscraper, an infernal tower going straight down into the Earth. With thousands of souls on the line, Syd and Ellen must fight their way to the bottom or die trying.
The Creators
Writer Steve Orlando
“EXORCISTS NEVER DIE was a joy from its inception, a project we’ve been building piece by perfect piece that I couldn’t be more excited for the world to see – Sebastian Piriz has created a whole new visual language for comic book action here, and it’s only going to keep evolving page by page! Saddle up with two combat exorcists as they leap into the depths of the Hellscraper, an inverted subterranean skyscraper pointing right down towards the darkest place. There, Seven Deadly sins bid for thousands of souls at auction, and there are only two people who can stop them!
We’re giving you action to the sky in this book, but it’s important to me for much more than that. Here’s a vivid exploration of biblical mythology, of what it means to fight a war, or even merely survive, in a world where only one side’s playing by the rules. It’s about the power of belief – not in the unknowable, but the knowable, the one fighting beside you. And in that unjust environment, we have two masters of their craft on the streets and catastrophes in the sheets, ex-lovers who’ve got no choice but to overcome the forces that drove them apart if they want to survive the most dangerous exorcism to ever hit the earthly plane.”
Artist, Sebastián Píriz
“First of all, Steve Orlando is writing; He’s one of the most talented and important writers in comics, so yeah, no big deal. But then I read the scripts and it’s a crazy story that mixes terror with, somehow, Shonen and it just works so well! Every page is a cool surprise and I’m having a blast working on it. So, even if you haven’t read anything by Steve before, this story is a must read. I mean, Ninja priests exorcizing demons with super sentai moves… This is the kind of book that made me love comics so much.”
Mad Cave Studios Exorcists Never Die by Steve Orlando, Sebastián Píriz, and Carlos M. Mangual becomes available April 12.
