‘Halloween Kills’ Is A ‘balls-out slasher movie’ According To John Carpenter

‘Halloween’ is one of the most iconic slasher films in horror movie history. Turning Michael Myers into a household staple in everyone’s nightmares and Jamie Lee Curtis into a star. And, while the sequels were definitely enjoyable for the most part, they lost their way from the original films punch and suspense. But, in 2018 the series received new life with ‘Halloween’ (same name, different movie), which ignored the sequels and focused on capturing the essence of the original as its own direct sequel. And now we have some high praise for the film following it.

In an interview with NME, John Carpenter had this to say:

“Well the producer and owner of the Halloween franchise, Malek Akkad, says it’s the second-best one right after the first. So that’s from him. I think it’s a balls-out slasher movie. We haven’t had one of those in a  long time…It’s done. We’re just waiting on the world to be a little bit more sane and a little safer before we release it. Holy Toledo! It’s the ultimate slasher movie.”

That is certainly high praise from both Malek Akkad and the iconic director himself, John Carpenter. But, ‘Halloween’ certainly lived up to its own lofty expectations upon its release in 2018, grossing over $250 million on a roughly $15 million dollar budget. So expectations are high for ‘Halloween Kills’ to deliver a similar output for the studio. But, having someone like John Carpenter hyping your movie up and calling it “the ultimate slasher movie’ certainly bodes well for its prospects.

Halloween Kills‘ is currently scheduled tentatively to be released on October 15th, 2021. Are you excited to see the continuing saga of the Halloween franchise?
