‘Hawkeye’ Cast Talks Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop and Year One of Marvel TV

Marvel’s Disney+ Hawkeye series is finally here. It’s not only Jeremy Renner’s return as the titular character, but it’s actress Hailee Steinfeld’s debut in the MCU. Needless to say, we’re all incredibly excited for Steinfeld’s introduction as Kate Bishop. It’s no surprise that this series will essentially be a way for the Marvel Cinematic Universe to pass the torch of Hawkeye from Clint Barton to Kate Bishop. And we’re so excited for it.

In a recent press conference, Steinfeld spoke on the confidence she had to manifest in order to play the popular Marvel character:

“I really do feel like playing this character, it sort of forced me to find confidence and a determination and discipline that’s always been inside of me, but I really had to bring it out of myself for this, uh, and do this character justice. I feel so lucky to be playing some-you know, a character that is so loved by so many and, uh, that people have been waiting for some time to see brought to life.”

Renner also talked about having Steinfeld’s back as a newcomer to the MCU:

“For me, I know, uh, I just wanted to communicate with her that I had her back, and that there’s gonna be a lotta strange things that go on. You know, it’s different than-than other types of filmmaking. There’s, um I just wanted to let her know that she wasn’t alone, and I had her back and, um, I’ll give her the answers if she needed them. So.”

One of the participants asking questions in the press conference was Charles Murphy from Murphy’s Multiverse, who asked Kevin Feige:

“Hawkeye represents the end of year one, uh, for Marvel Studios on Disney Plus. Can you reflect on how year one went and what you’ve learned as you head into year two?”

Kevin then answered:

“Yeah. Well, it’s the end of year one of the projects finally coming out and people being able to see them. But it’s about year three or four for us as we’ve been developing them. And I think we learn on-we learn on everything what-what is, um, the reception to each of them is what has been most gratifying. Because we always wanted them to be different here. It feels like the audience has responded the way we wanted to. I have always said, nobody will get bored before we at Marvel Studios will of these
projects. And going, uh, 20 plus years, I’m not anywhere near bored yet. Because we’re allowed to do within the sub-genre so many different types of, uh, types of things.”

Make sure you watch the first two episodes on Disney Plus!
