HBO Max is developing a Constantine series. The ever popular DC comic book character will be getting a new home and a new face on the streaming service. The Illuminerdi reports that HBO Max is working with JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions.
According to the news site, the show will be a “dark reinvention of the character” and will differ from previous iterations of the character. The report states that it will focus less on religion and more so be horror-related. Right now, the show is looking to cast a BIPOC actor in their late twenties. The logline describes looking for someone like Riz Ahmed.
The show will be written by Guy Bolton. We’ve previously seen Constantine as Keanu Reeves in the film and Matt Ryan in the Arrowverse.
