HBO Max’s Love Life’s Scoot McNairy Reveals Why He Took The Part

One of HBO Max’s Originals is Anna Kendrick’s Love Life. An anthological series that follows Kendrick as Darby Carter; a young woman living in New York City. Throughout the ten episodes, Darby will explore her love life, friends, and career. Each episode focuses on a different person who made an impact on her life. One of those romantic partners is Scoot McNairy’s Bradley Field. Recently, McNairy sat with the Dallas Observer to talk about his lighthearted character:

“Bradley is Anna Kendrick’s boss. He works in an art museum doing tours. He’s getting married in the opening episode, and [Darby] attends the wedding. Later in the show, you see that Bradley has split with his wife, and he and Darby give a go at dating each other.”

McNairy recently did a phenomenal job as DEA Walt Breslin in Netflix’s Narcos: Mexico season two. McNairy is known for acting in many dramas such as AMC’s Halt and Catch Fire and HBO’s True Detective. Love Life is a nice change of pace for the Dallas native, who spoke on his reasoning for taking the role of Bradley Field:

“I just wanted to try and get back into something that was a little bit lighter. I was really excited about the idea of working with Anna Kendrick on a comedy because she’s so good at it and she’s just incredible at what she does. I was lucky to jump onto something like this.”

He added:

“I was really excited about the idea of working with Anna Kendrick on a comedy because she’s so good at it and she’s just incredible at what she does. I was lucky to jump onto something like this.”

McNairy also commented on his love for art – something he and Bradley have in common:

“I liked having the ability to play around in that comedic world. Working on this project allowed me to step back into something I haven’t done in a long time, which is what drew me to Bradley. He’s funny, he’s dry, and this is just something I wanted to get back to.”

Love Life’s first three episodes are now available on HBO Max. Considering the times we are in, it’s nice to have something lighthearted to enjoy. Have you checked out Love Life? What are your thoughts?
