HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’ Prequel Selects a Director and Finalizes Cast for Pilot

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”12984″ img_size=”800×563″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]As start the long awaited countdown to the final season of HBO’s Game of Thrones approaches, it appears that the Game of Thrones prequel pilot is coming to fruition.

Along with the previously announced cast members Naomi Watts and Josh Whitehouse, you can add a long list of additional cast members they have brought on board. Naomi Ackie, Denise Gough, Jamie Campbell Bower, Sheila Atim, Ivanno Jeremiah, Georgie Henley, Alex Sharp, and Toby Regbo have all joined the pilot in what will be series regular roles (for whatever THAT means in Game of Thrones land). It comes as no surprise to anyone who is familiar with how HBO handles their Game of Thrones business, nothing has been revealed about the exact nature of each of their roles.

In additional news, SJ Clarkson has been signed on to direct the pilot in addition to serving as an executive producer. Clarkson, as you may recall, was most recently selected to direct the next film in the now in limbo Star Trek franchise. Her resume also includes executive producing and directing the limited series Collateral for BBC and Netflix. Clarkson also has directed the Marvel-Netflix shows The Defenders and Jessica Jones, as well as the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black. She has also worked for HBO on shows Vinyl and Succession.

Are you excited to see what HBO, SJ Clarkson and George RR Martin have in store for you once Game of Thrones has reached its end? Will the prequel be able to meet your expectations after the brilliance of the original Game of Thrones? Share what you are hoping for with us at GVNation.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
