HBO’s ‘Hellraiser’ Poised to Take the Franchise in New Directions

It looks like HBO is preparing to take the Hellraiser franchise in new directions.

The Illuminerdi is reporting that the show’s producers are looking to gender-bend Pinhead. According to The Illuminerdi, the producers have been searching for an actress with “graceful, ethereal, commanding, and regal” qualities. They specifically cite Elizabeth Debicki as an actress of interest.

TENET: Elizabeth Debicki

While it’s unlikely Debicki will be stepping into the role, it suggests HBO is looking to do something new with the franchise. Most fans will be familiar with Doug Bradley’s performance in the first eight films. So, this would mark a pretty big change for the character.

There is no timeframe for the series’ release, but hopefully, more news will be on the horizon. Mark Verheiden and Michael Dougherty are writing the show. Halloween‘s David Gordon Green is expected to direct the pilot. Franchise creator, Clive Barker, joins them as an executive producer.

Are you excited about these changes? What are you hoping to see in the Hellraiser series?
