Mark this news as rumor for now as I have not been able to get a second source to confirm this news but if it turns out be true then fans of Hocus Pocus should be very happy. A source of mine who is very close to Executive Producer David Kirschner, tells me that Disney is working hard to get Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy to reprise their roles as the Sanderson sisters. Our source also says that they are also trying to get Doug Jones back to reprise his role as Billy Butcherson, Jones has said he would love to come back. A report back in February from ScreenRant confirmed that a reboot to Hocus Pocus was in the works with Kirschner as EP and writer Scarlett Lacey. In that report it was suggested that Midler would not be coming back but it seems Kirschner and company really want to capture the magic of the first film by bringing the original witches back.
The reboot would be a TV movie for either Freeform, Disney+ or perhaps both. I would assume with the budget most shows are getting for Disney+ and Disney really wanting to get subscribers that Disney+ seems like the most logical choice.
Like I said mark this as rumor for now but hopefully it will be confirmed soon. No further news regarding the film has been released and there is no time table on when filming will begin.
